It can be difficult to find closure after the untimely death of a loved one—especially when you have reason to believe that it resulted from another party's recklessness or negligence. If you find yourself in this situation, you may have grounds to file a civil lawsuit and hold the responsible party accountable for his or her actions. You can do this with the help of personal injury lawyers, as one St. Louis family recently did.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, a $548,000 settlement has been reached in a wrongful death lawsuit against Sun Rental Inc., the company responsible for installing a tent that collapsed and killed a Waterloo man in April 2012. The source reports that 58-year-old Alfred Goodman was at Kilroy's Sports Bar in downtown St. Louis after attending a Cardinals game at nearby Busch Stadium when 50 mile per hour winds caused the tent that he was standing under to collapse. Goodman suffered fatal neck and head injuries. Approximately 100 others were injured, spawning a number of other lawsuits.

In this particular lawsuit, Goodman's family members claimed that Sun Rental had failed to properly install and inspect the tent beforehand. The news outlet notes that they have also sued Kilroy's and that those claims are pending.
