When someone you love dies due to another individual's negligence, you owe it to yourself to find a personal injury attorney who can help you aggressively pursue justice.
It's been a little over two years since Jacksonville, Florida, resident Kalil McCoy was fatally shot while riding in a vehicle with four of her Andrew Jackson High School classmates following a night out at a local night club. Frederick Wade, the man who pulled the trigger and killed the 20-year-old, was convicted of second-degree murder in August 2012 and sentenced to life in prison, while the other three passengers were charged with accessory to murder.
Now, First Coast News reports that Lynnett Roebuck, McCoy's mother, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the four individuals involved, as well as a woman who allegedly gave Wade permission to use her vehicle and owned the weapon used in the murder.
The source states that Roebuck is suing the five defendants for "negligence resulting in wrongful death."
"Just going to jail, just going to prison, it's not enough for me. That's not justice," said the victim's mother, according to the news outlet. "They're never going to forget about Kalil McCoy. I'm going to make them remember Kalil every day. Every day of their life, they're going to remember my daughter."
