No one should ever have to endure inappropriate behavior at their place of employment, as the workplace should be considered a safe environment for everyone. That being said, if you believe you have been the victim of sexual harassment, you may have grounds to take legal action and should consult an affordable lawyer as soon as possible.
A settlement has been reached in the sexual harassment lawsuit against former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner, reports the Los Angeles Times. According to the source, the plaintiff, 57-year-old Irene Jackson, will receive $250,000, which will cover attorney fees and damages.
The source states that Jackson accused 71-year-old Filner of making "unwanted physical advances and lewd comments and [alleged] that he once told her she would do better if she came to work without panties." Though upwards of 20 women claim to have been harassed by Filner while he was in office, Jackson was the only one who went public with her accusations. Fliner resigned on August 30, 2013.
"This settlement avoids a year of intense and expensive litigation that probably would have cost the parties more than this settlement and would have been grueling for all parties," said City Attorney Jan Goldsmith in a statement, as noted by the news outlet.
